Voice: To Be Determined – Pls Stay Tuned!
All BMC Competitions are open to all high school music students (grades 9-12) in Whatcom County and to students from neighboring counties who study with Whatcom County teachers.
Contestants are to perform music of a classical nature, no more than 8 minutes long. Please be prepared to introduce yourself, your accompanist, and what you will be performing. Students need to provide a copy of their music for the adjudicator, music will be returned. You are responsible for acquiring and paying for your own accompanist. Memorization is not required, unless your event is Voice. An adjudicator will judge your performance and provide feedback. Awards will be determined for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and an additional prize. Results of the competition will be announced at the end of the evening’s performances. Top award winners will be invited to perform at a Bellingham Music Club matinee program later in the season.
Competitions will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas Street, Bellingham, and will run from 4 pm to approximately 7 or 8 pm depending on the number of entries.
Winners of the Competition will be featured in a BMC Concert on the following dates: Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:30 AM for Strings and Winds/Percussion; and Wednesday April 3, 2024 at 10:30 AM for Piano and Voice. Concerts will also be at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The students will receive their awards checks following the concert.
Please complete the online application by the deadline listed in the form below. The $15.00 fee can be paid online or mailed to BMC PO BOX 193, Bellingham, WA 98227-0193. Note: if a student plans to perform in two competitions, only one fee is required but the student must fill out a separate application for each competition because applications go to different coordinators. One biography per entrant is sufficient. Sibling competitors will be charged $5.00 each after the initial $15.00 for the first competing member of the family.
