The BMC encourages young musicians who demonstrate talent, perseverance, and fine musicianship with several awards.

We know that pursuing excellence in music is hard work, and takes much determination and dedication on the part of students, with support from teachers and parents along the way. Through adjudicated competitions, students are recognized and valued in their music making, and often motivated to pursue a career in music.
BMC holds four competitions for high school students. BMC encourages young musicians by granting four prizes for each of the competitions in the following amounts: first ($450), second ($350), third ($250), and fourth-place ($100).
In addition, BMC is proud to offer an extra formative experience when it invites the top placers of each competition to perform at a matinee program. Playing for a friendly and supportive audience plays an essential role in the young musicians’ growth and development; this opportunity is part of BMC’s tradition and legacy.
