BMC welcomes UCLA faculty and Hollywood flute legend, Sheridon Stokes, for two programs in November.
As the prime flute/piccolo player in Hollywood studio orchestras for many years, Mr. Stokes has recorded memorable solos and parts in movies and TV shows such as Out of Africa, Mission Impossible and Star Trek, as well as the penny whistle in Titanic, to name but a few.
In a one hour-long program on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 10:30 at Trinity Lutheran, 119 Texas St. Mr. Stokes talks about his illustrious career, demonstrates different flutes, and plays some of the movie music he initiated. Free and open to the public.
Pianist Wade Dingman joins Mr. Stokes on BMC Night Beat on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30pm at First Congregational Church, 2401 Cornwall Ave. This full-length program includes movie themes in addition to unique stories and classical selections! Tickets for Night Beat are on sale online, at Village Books and at the door. $20/$15. Take-a-teen-for-free!
Sheridon Stokes will give a masterclass for flute students at Western Washington University on Monday, Nov. 2 at 2pm. The public is welcome to attend the class for free in the PAC Concert Hall.
