Millie and The Mentshn are back!!!

Millie and The Mentshn – Bellingham’s favorite Klezmer band – are reviving their show “Homeland to Heartland” for BMC audiences! Not since 2005 have we had the chance to hear the storytelling, music and memories of Millie’s ancestors, who kept very detailed and literate diaries and photos of their experiences both in the Old Country and the New World.

Classically trained musicians Millie Johnson, soprano and director, Susan Ediger Blum, clarinet, Ken Bronstein, oboe, Phil Heaven, viola/violin, Lou Lippman, piano, and Warren Palken, percussion/drums, bring a program that follows the immigration of Jews to America from Lithuania at the end of the 1800s to the late 1940s. It speaks of love, work, prayer, family, strength, and tradition.

We offer a program preview on Wednesday, November 4, 10:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church. The longer, full experience Night Beat includes slides from the Shtetl (village), the ship voyage, and arriving and settling in the US,  Thursday, November 5, 7:30pm at First Congregational Church.

BMC wants to make music accessible to all, and ticket purchase is not required. We have a basket if you wish to make a donation (we suggest $20 for the evening show). All are welcome, and children and students are always free.

We look forward to seeing you at the concert!
