“On the first day of December, my true love gave to me…” a concert of shimmering Renaissance music! The delighted crowd applauded dulcian and recorder virtuoso, Anna Marsh, and keyboardist, Henry Lebedinsky, who played a beautiful historic virginal. Our host, Trinity Lutheran Church, added winter magic with sumptuously decorated trees, and guests carried home festive bundles of sweets lovingly assembled by our Social Chair, Emily Sasnett!
Looking back over the past months, we are so grateful for your warm embrace of our season theme, “Play On!” Our return to live concerts began in September with Cayley Schmidt and Clea Johnson in a rousing Celtic celebration. October brought the return of our evening Night Beat series, with a revelatory performance by oboist, Bhavani Kotha, and pianist, Rebecca Mañalac.
October also introduced the world-famous Rastrelli Cello Quartet in their long-anticipated West Coast appearance. Talk about making a splash – the audience was almost breathless! “We had an amazing time. We felt so special to be part of the audience who experienced such an uplifting evening!” “So many of us were so excited by the music and being together again. It was wonderful to feel the joy spread throughout the audience.”
Then, November turned the spotlight to two local artists, violinist Grant Donnellan and pianist Judy Widrig, who offered us stirring musical reflections of England featuring famous as well as under-represented composers.
Thanks to your generosity, BMC’s future is bright, assuring our community of high-caliber concerts by outstanding artists, and encouragement for our young musicians. Your donations make it all happen every year. Please consider topping off your year-end tax-deductible gifts; BMC will put them to good use! You can send your gift to BMC, P.O. Box 193, Bellingham, WA 98227, or give online.
As we prepare to say farewell to 2021, Board members and volunteers wish you a peaceful, joyful and safe Holiday Season, and a very Happy New Year!
